This quote means that it’s better not to lie then to lie too look good or cool. Lying is bad and specially if you do it just to look cool or good. It is way better to not look good then to lie because lying is bad and you can hurt people’s feeling and that is not right. A lot of people lie to their friends just to look cool and sometime that can lead to another lie and you might even hurt someone's feeling just by lying.Like in this case a baseball team lied by having other kids play that are not from that school and they got far but then they found out that they were not playing right.
